the classic userland *nix utilities in OSX (ie: w, y, sh, file, etc) are taken
from FreeBSD... the kernel is completely and utterly different, and Aqua is not
a window manager.  Probobly about 1/50th of all the code on OS/X is FreeBSD
code.  Hardely something I'd say is just a window manager running on top of
FreeBSD.
