Ah, indeed they are going to use P4s it appears
(http://maczealots.com/articles/intel-inside/) and for *these* Macs, a
Synchronet build would be more readily doable than than current Macs. But I
expect Synchronet big-endian support to be merged into CVS before these new
Intel-based Macs are readily available anyway.
