That's kind of how i would feel about 500+ > line ansis. Painful! ;-) Kind of a bad comparison. With a car, you need to either have ALOT of money or skill to mod out something like that (ussually both). All you need is to know enough about computers to run a BBS and THEDRAW. Ansi's don't need to be 313373 but when the users see the Sysop cares enough to customize the board, the users will care also. What i find amusing is new Sysops who piss and moan when the users don't just flood in after 48 hours of putting it online. lol ... I have over 200 users and a nice setup but it takes YEARS to get things going in most cases. This is just HOBBY I don't understand why some people are so impatient There are ways to narrow down the time but still... this isn't the haydays anymore. Back in the day in Chicago with 1,000+ BBS's and hundreds of thousnads (if not millions) of users, a 48 hour booster was possible. These days it simply isn't. Chicago, being the place where BBS's were born -- had (and still has) over 3 million people within the city limits and at least 20 million or more people within the whole Chicagoland area. If I had to guess, "Chicagoland" spans over 200 miles in every direction if not moreso. We've got ALOT of surrounding suburbs. So it was easy for us to have at least a million users total in the local scene when refering to the ENTIRE Chicagoland area. We were the largest because BBS's was born here. However most of the major cities did tend to do at least half as well. Among the states that had a LARGE amount og Sysops and users (that i can remeber) were: IL, PA, MI, NY, CA, AZ, WA, FL and thats about it for MASSIVE OBSCENE activity that I can recell. The rest of the states still didn't do too bad. MOST states I think had at LEAST 100 boards with at LEAST 1,000 users state wide at minimum. I remeber that even Hawaii had a descent amount at one time. -- .---------------------------------------------------------------. | [TiME WaRRiOR] aka [Dave Kelso] AIM: Twar782 | +o Malkavia BBS | | www : synchsupport.net - malkaviabbs.com - xpresit.net | | www$: josephsjewelersonline.com - preferedinsurance.com | | @: time.warrior@malkaviabbs. com | \______________________________________________________________/ --- Synchronet 3.12a-Win32 NewsLink 1.76 * Malkavia - Chicago, IL - telnet://malkaviabbs.com --- Synchronet 3.12b-Win32 NewsLink 1.83 .
