Subj : Telnet server To : All From : Finnigann Date : Thu Jun 23 2005 12:14 am I just got another life's lessons. I did not know that Windows XP came with a server el telnet. Nope it was totally unknown to me. Of course this raised a bit of havoc with Synchronet. I mean it started and TRIED to bind with the telent channel o'love (23) but it wasn't to be. I tried going the 'Localhost route' but that was of course covered too. I asked DM wtf was up with his iron... why was my addy sending to Microsoft? I did the ping thing to PROVE it was going there. I showed DM my screen capture with IPCONFIG results showing that it was two different add's (well almost, it showed the DNS number but that wasn't supposed to be the same) Anyway, as a last resort, I looked at the help files and lo' and behold, there IS a telnet server that comes with Windows XP after all... Who'd a thunk it? Not I! So, turning it off (how it became to be turned on in the first place, I dunno) Then re-running the BBS fixed it up very nicely Geez, there might be some use to these things after all. Happy Fourth ya'all (Angus, asorted Canadians and the rest of the DoVeNet world save this until Novemeber) ((That didn't really work out right, did it?)) .... I hear voices in my head...... and they don't like you. --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.45 þ Synchronet þ Bits-N-Bytes BBS Onehellofa BBS bnb.dtdns.net .
