I'd say you have Synch set to put the dropfile
in either the startup directory (D:\SBBS\XTRN\DARKNESS)
or the node directory (D:\SBBS\NODE1) but you have
the game looking in D:\SBBS\DARKNESS for the dropfile.

In DM's Sync setup, he drops the file in the Node directory,

 >16: BBS Drop File Type         Mystic          DOOR32.SYS
 >17: Place Drop File In         Node Directory

so you'd want the Darkness drop file directory to be
D:\SBBS\NODE1
