I've never seen a UPS fail-off... you may be misunderstanding the purpose of mltiple power supplies (or perhaps you actually have them for a different reason than I generally do) Plugging one into the wall and one into the UPS means that if one of them goes, you have a 50% chance that the UPS is no longer protecting your computer. If you want to protect against a UPS failing off, you would need to get two UPSs. Plugging one into the wall and the other into the UPS is more risky than plugging both into the same UPS. People doing that may be why many high-end servers don't use a separate power cord for multiple power supplies (My Sun Enterprise 450 for example has two or three power supplies and one power cord) Disclaimer: What I call high end is not what server manufacturers call high end.
