We had the building wired with a set of UPS-based outlets. They were a different colour. The UPS was sized for our server suite plus a few critical workstations and printers. But the bigshots in the admin department and the executive suite came up with a brilliant idea. They all plugged their video entertainment systems and coffee-makers into the UPS circuit. See, when the power went off, they were all able to kick back, watch a movie, and sip some coffee while they waited for the juice to come back on. Unfortunately, this reduced the 45 minutes of UPS time to 6-7 minutes, which was hardly enough to get a cup brewed! It _certainly_ wasn't enopugh time to run an orderly shutdown on the main server. So the executive decision was made to take some of the minor servers servers OFF the UPS circuit. Just so their coffee could be guaranteed..... --- þ Synchronet þ Synchronet Track-and-field: Discus event at The ANJO BBS .
