Subj : Remote Hangup? To : DOVE-Net.Synchronet_Discu From : Mindless Automaton Date : Thu Jun 02 2005 11:38 am Hello, I've been perusing the docs looking for a remote hangup command, but I have not seen one. I logged in this morning and found a user stuck in a door (Melee) over night. When he tries to log in again, the bbs gives an error because he is already logged in. For the time being, I've flagged him for multiple node login. All the NODE commands run after the user logs off. I also tried removing all time available for the user, but that did not do anything. Perhaps the system could kill door processes also, similar to the maintenance issue I posted a few days ago: > > Last night during maintenance for some reason Usurper maintenance locked up. > > (Two NPC teams fighting was the last message in the window) Anyways, when i > > locked up, it ran the CPU at 99% all day, so the BBS crawled when you > > connected. > > > > Is there any way to set maintenance items up so they are killed if they run > > long? Once I got home and ended the process, everything was speedy again. > >No, but I'll add it to the to-do list. :-) > > digital man Maybe some kind of do or die timer for externals? Alternatively, I will have a look at forwarding the VPN ports through my router so I can VPN to the machine and bring about the destruction of unruly processes that way.
