Subj : Market Action To : All From : Paul Rogers Date : Thu Feb 03 2005 05:05 pm Content-type: text/plain Both the OTC & DJIA were underwater all day, thus so was the S&P. However, volume slid again, to -8% below average. The "culprit" was signs of weakness--earnings reports below consensus expectations and worse than expected economic data. What a surprize! Somebody once said, "Believing the enemy's propaganda is dangerous, believing your own is fatal." I guess some on the Street have been doing that. To be a good investor you have to be able to "think outside the box." But that's probably deadly for politicians as well. I know how to extend Social Security for years--but don't be surprized if you've never heard this before. There's no shortage of workers. There are thousands of people every year who are willing to risk death in the Arizona, Texas, New Mexico deserts, some dying, to come and work in this country "under the radar". Just put ads in the Mexican papers telling them to come to a regular crossing point with their papers, hand them a green card and a Social Security card and start collecting their Social Security and Income taxes. "Sputter, sputter, We can't do THAT!" Sure we can. My father was an illegal alien for years, working in this country in domestic service. While he was Basil Rathbone's (Sherlock Holmes) butler, Brit David Niven gave him some some cues about getting legal immigrant status. Chances of the Administration or the Congresscritters considering an original idea, about nil. Price Vola- Momen- Volume Oscil- Summ.
