Subj : Market Action To : All From : Paul Rogers Date : Mon Mar 29 2004 05:12 pm

I guess Friday's mostly positive action wasn't entirely a head-fake.
The market was up nicely higher early today and for the most part held
on. Prices increased significantly, enough to nearly pop a Buy signal
on my timing indicator. But it wasn't good enough to call an
"Accumulation" day in my book. Volume was modestly higher than Friday,
but still -6% below average.

I've seen low volume rallies before. They're not the best things to try
to make money with. They tend to be very short lived, a week or so, and
end with sudden, sharp drops. The best thing they're good for is
selling what you made a mistake buying. It's NOT an excuse to keep
holding, because the pain has lessened. If there's a quality possessed
by successful investors, lacking in unsuccessful ones, it's the ability
to admit making a mistake and taking decisive, effective action to
correct it. Would more of our politicians were more like successful
investors. The Street doesn't want to know you're right!

Timing Signals: I don't use or recommend timing signals, but they're
fun to watch. If I did though, well, I might use something like this.
(Be warned!! It tends to whipsaw around signal points!)

Last Signal: SELL Date: 03/10/04 S&P: 1124
Winner or Loser: Winner! By: 72
