Subj : Market Action To : All From : Paul Rogers Date : Tue Dec 16 2003 06:05 pm

The market slowly gained a little ground today, and even if volume
wasn't impressive, it was up +15% above average. This week we have
options and futures expiring. Last month nothing much happened, but
it's not unusual to have some volatility and higher volume as investors
unwind or roll positions. Prices continue to bounce along just under
this "rising tops" resistance line.

I'm imagining what I'd be thinking if I was one of the Street money
managers. Most funds are up nicely this year, 25%-35% gains aren't that
unusual. I wouldn't be trying anything fancy. I'd be trying to just
hold my own through year end so I could "book it". Next year is a whole
new story.

So I'm not looking for striking action through year end, though with
holiday shortened weeks coming up I'd be wary of low-volume volatility.

Timing Signals: I don't use or recommend timing signals, but they're
fun to watch. If I did though, well, I might use something like this.
(Be warned!! It tends to whipsaw around signal points!)
