The Leading Economic Indicators fell in September. That didn't help the
market, it was up and down most of the day. In the late afternoon
prices and volume picked up a bit. But over all, volume was down -13%
below average.
As I was scanning a market report online I noticed someone was quoted
saying investors were thinking the market was getting tired, and maybe
it was time for a rest. DOH! What does he think has been happening all
summer? Is he trying to scare Main Streeet out of the market?
I'm thinking decent earnings again this quarter might let investors
relax a little more, let the market get back to normal. Because I've
got this "beach ball" metaphor in mind for the bounce-back from the
over-sold Bear Market, I'm not so worried about the market being
over-bought this spring. I wouldn't be shocked by a Santa Claus Rally.

Timing Signals: I don't use or recommend timing signals, but they're
fun to watch. If I did though, well, I might use something like this.
(Be warned!! It tends to whipsaw around signal points!)
Last Signal: Buy Date: 10/01/03 S&P: 1018
