Subj : Market Action To : All From : Paul Rogers Date : Tue Aug 26 2003 07:19 pm

In today's action the market held its own for the first half hour, then
over the next half bour the DJIA fell over 50pts on heavier volume.
Then it turned flat, and volume dried-up. Between 1:30 and 3:00 it
gained 100pts, again on heavier volume, and held that into the close.
However, in the end volume was still -9% below average.

Now, that's just about what I'd expect for light volume Summer Doldrums
but without much in the way of fear from investors. But don't forget,
with a cautiously positive outlook on the Street, it is once again
"pricing for perfection," and if the economy doesn't follow through
there will have to be a correction, above and beyond the normal sorts of
corrections we usually get in September or October.

Timing Signals: I don't use or recommend timing signals, but they're
fun to watch. If I did though, well, I might use something like this.
(Be warned!! It tends to whipsaw around signal points!)

Last Signal: BUY Date: 08/12/03 S&P: 990
