Subj : Market Action To : All From : Paul Rogers Date : Fri Apr 11 2003 09:05 pm
Prices leaped at the opening, but almost as quickly fell back, then
drifted flat to slightly lower the rest of the day. The notable number
was volume down -19% below average. So again trading today was marked
mostly by a lack of willing buyers and anxious sellers.
That's only a 30-day, six-week, Moving Average on volume--it does follow
the Market trend. Many of my numbers are over relatively short periods,
the better to go with the flow of the Market. I don't use the 200-day
Moving Average on the Price Chart, though most chartists consider it the
long term relevant comparison. Most of the major indices have been
bumping their heads against it as a Resistance Line. NASDAQ is a little
above, but can't seem to break free. I'm watching a Declining Tops Line
that has seemed to define this Bear Market instead. It's a little
higher, at 924 today. So either way, there are few signs yet that the
Street has put the Bear to sleep. It doesn't have to let the Bull loose
on the Street, but even continuing a Horizontal Trading Range makes a
statement. Is the Street willing to make that statement and stand
behind it?

Timing Signals: I don't use or recommend timing signals, but they're
fun to watch. If I did though, well, I might use something like this.
(Be warned!! It tends to whipsaw around signal points!)
