Subj : Market Action To : All From : Paul Rogers Date : Fri Mar 07 2003 05:38 pm

The Market was all over the block today, from a low of 811 to a high of
828. There was the expected Blix report to the UN, a bad unemployment
report, perhaps in part caused by reserve call-ups, a rumor that a
couple of bin Laden's sons had been arrested, and bin Laden might be in
a caravan being tracked.

There are apparently some who are waiting for the "hanging fire" Iraq
situation to get resolved. Some who counter that then the Market has to
deal with earnings and the economy. Now, I'll reserve judgement on the
first, defeating Saddam's army is only the end of the beginning. And
I'll remind the second that if consumer confidence improves then
earnings and the economy will eventually follow, inspite of the
Administration's inability to do anything effective. No, I'm sorry, it
hasn't, no matter what it has done. Consumer confidence and the current
Market are all the proof I need of that. The word was "effective".

So I'm still very conservative with my investment outlook. Of course, I
always run the numbers.

Timing Signals: I don't use or recommend timing signals, but they're
fun to watch. If I did though, well, I might use something like this.
(Be warned!! It tends to whipsaw around signal points!)

Last Signal: SELL Date: 01/17/03 S&P: 902
Winner or Loser: Loser By: -7
