Subj : Welcome To : ... Visitors ! From : Jacques Montagne Date : Wed Jan 31 2001 11:23 pm My name is Jacques and I'm a recovering alcoholic, and I WELCOME ALL OF YOU to this electronic AA meeting! ================== Let us continue to share here together on SIP_AA our Experience, Strength and Hope. "We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit, and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny." (Big Book, page 164) ======= SIP_AA: Singleness In Purpose _ Alcoholics Anonymous ======= = = = = = ----- THE " RULES " or GUIDELINES for this ECHO: ----- "Although SIP_AA is not a part of Alcoholics Anonymous, we believe the A.A. preamble clearly states our purpose. In describing their Fellowship, they describe us:" 1) This echo is established for the purposes of sharing Experience, Strength and Hope among those practicing the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, and for carrying our message to other alcoholics. Appropriate topics include discussion of recovery from alcoholism using the program of recovery set forth in the book, Alcoholics Anonymous. 2) THE ONLY REQUIREMENT for participation is A DESIRE TO STOP DRINKING. 3) This is an open echo. Aliases or handles are permitted and invited, at the discretion of the local sysop. 4) It is also requested that all who participate respect the anonymity of the other participants. 5) All who participate are asked to remember that none of us are here because we are perfect, or because we walk this walk perfectly. As one of us recently posted, "We bring ourselves to the clearing with us. It is the way of us. It is our struggle that makes us whole." 6) If you disagree with the message as another carries it, please refrain from criticizing. Sharing what has worked for you is, perhaps, more appropriate. If you do feel it necessary to condemn, please find another forum. "Let us also remember to guard that erring member the tongue, and if we must use it, let's use it with kindness and consideration and tolerance..." 7) No one individual speaks for the echo as a whole, any more than any one member can speak for AA as a whole. 8) AKA obligatory Fidonet stuff.... In the event of the absence of the moderator for a period of over longer than 2 weeks, the associate moderator shall assume responsibility. 9) In the event that the current moderator should have to resign the position, he/she will announce the upcoming resignation in the echo and ask for suggestions on who should be the future moderator from echo participants. The retiring moderator will select the new moderator from among those suggested by participants, announce the identity of the new moderator in the echo, and give the new moderator the Elist Password and any other pertinent information via Fidonet NetMail. 10) This echo may not be gated to any other network without the prior consent of the moderator. Consent will not be unreasonably withheld. 11) You shall not be excessively ANNOYING. 12) You shall not be too easily ANNOYED. as handed down by Tim Dill, Moderator Emeritus of SIP_AA ! and by former Moderators: Emeritus Harriet Levy : Emeritus Van Sunnel : Emeritus Gary Clark : Emeritus Monte Rehlander I have listed the Emeritus Moderators for newcomers and to let folks know the people who gave service over the years. Even though Monte is no longer, or as he put it "on the green side of the grass", his memory lives on. ===================================================================== This is the description publicly available to ALL on the monthly Fidonet EchoList: SIP_AA ********** RECOVERY from ALCOHOLISM ********** [S] ingleness [I] n [P] urpose _ [A] lcoholics [A] nonymous An echo designed for the sharing of EXPERIENCE, HOPE and STRENGTH for those practicing the 12 steps recovery program described in the book Alcoholics Anonymous.
