Subj : Silver Xpress limitations? To : Andrea Santos From : David B. Smith Date : Sat Jun 10 2000 11:56 am Hi, Andrea. AS> The last version of Maximus that Silver Xpress directly supported was AS> 2.x. The Door will work with some adjustments with Max 3.x but a few AS> options were lost. One was Vacation mail and since that was I knew about the Max 2.x business, and made such adjustments as I knew about. AS> generally handled offline, it's possible that offline mail AS> configuration may not be available. You may wish to check with other AS> sysops running Maximus. Will have to see about that. AS> The Silver Xpress Door is free for 1-3 line systems. The SX Reader is AS> $25.00. Okay, well, my BBS is a one-line system, so I'm okay there. And without the offline configuration, I don't have much use for the reader, since Bluewave is working okay, and that already cost me about $20-$30. BTW, I was interested in that Fax capability stuff that -seems- to be there. Doesn't seem to work, either, though. Did that normally interact with some external fax-sending utility? Is that still out there somewheres? If not, is any info available as to how that interaction took place? Can't see a point to letting anybody but me to use such a thing, but it looks like a Cool Feature. And since I already have BGFax set up to send faxes, thought it'd be kinda cool to be able to send faxes that way. Oh, and there's that registration thing that also seems to be there. Am I correct, the Reader attempts to send a registration netmail to you via Fidonet? If so, clever idea. Looked like it worked that way, anyway. --- Blue Wave/Max v2.30 * Origin: American Tune BBS * 1-734-480-0152 (1:2410/104) .
