I've seen it and most of the other GW minatures games played.  As near
as I can tell, it's the minatures equivalent of munchkin gaming.  Lots
of dice to roll, not all that much in the way of tactics, at least not
in the games I saw.  

If you want to try minatures battles, I'ld recommend Car Wars, Diskwars,
or (if you really want to get into it) find one of the Civil War or WWII
battle rules.  Or try Squad Leader, if you don't mind cardboard chits
instead of pewter.
