To the uninformed, Corby was just a dog. A pet. That was their loss. = Those of us who have been loved by a special dog know how genuine and = pure that love is. Your faults don't matter. You are their family, and = they would do anything for you. Even our human family members judge and = reject us sometimes, never our dogs. Sweetness is one thing, Corby also = had a natural intelligence. He was the only dog I've known who was = naturally polite, and that made him a joy to have. Though adopted as a = young adult, he quickly adapted to the limitations of his new family, = and came to understand that his real partner wasn't one of those people = who fed him. Corby was the first dog I could truly call my own. Corby was hit by a car roughly a month ago, damaging vertebrae and = compromising the spinal cord. He fought with typical courage through = major surgery and intensive therapy. Alas, his old back simply couldn't = take the stress from the steel pinning and other vertebrae failed. At = 3:30 today, I had to do the hardest thing ever, but I owed it to him = just as I owed him the best chance possible. I owed Corby a debt beyond = repayment. If you wish to commemorate the life of a true partner, please make a = donation to the "Living Tree Foundation" at Gulf Coast Veterinary = Services.
