Subj : Echo Rules To : All From : Moderator Date : Thu Mar 01 2001 07:00 am RULES FOR THE AD&D/RECFRP ECHO GROUP (Last Modification: July 4, 1999) The AD&D/RECFRP echo group is for the discussion and actual playing of all role-playing games. Computer and card games, standalone novels, etc. are off-topic. Extended threads debating topics of subjective opinion are restricted at Moderator discretion. Users are reminded that certain RPG-related topics can, and will be "whistled dead" by the moderators. These topics are usually those that stagnate after a while and cover no new ground. We can all think of several prominent examples. :) How long a topic remains dead is also up to the moderators. EVERYONE is expected to exhibit Lawful Good behavior. This means be polite, flame-free and respectful of people who may (GASP) have a different opinion than yours. Above all, you are expected to remain on topic as defined in rule 1, above. HANDLES are allowed by PLAYERS as part of their game. Use of handles by all others is allowed only after moderator approval via netmail. Discussion of a handle in the echo is prohibited. Those who insist on using handles may be required to change them by the moderators. Use of "high-ASCII" characters in messages is prohibited. Upon the first offense of these simple rules, the Moderator shall summon the dreaded Moderator Monster, which shall warn the offender and cast a Friends spell on him/her. If the offender makes his/her save, and a second infraction occurs, the Monster shall be summoned to cast a Symbol of Pain on the offender and the offender's sysop is enlisted to correct this behavior. If a third infraction occurs (individuals like this must have an Intelligence of 4 and Wisdom of 3), the Monster shall be summoned to cast a Death Spell on the offender, resulting in his/her termination from the echo; this Death Spell is very potent (affects all, no save). The Monster may cast a Ressurection spell if so inclined. AD&D Echo Moderators are Scott Royall and Kay Shapero; legends say Scott resides in a CONCH on the 3rd coast (1:106/357) while Kay is guardian of the Aerie StormGate (1:102/524). AD&D/RECFRP is said to originate from the CONCH. Due to echo reader comments, effective 6/1/90 there was a limitation placed on how many games can be played within the echo at any given point in time. Too many games confuse and frustrate GMs/players who are trying to keep track of their game. ANY GM WHO DESIRES TO CONDUCT A GAME IN THE ECHO *MUST* REGISTER THEIR GAME BY A.) FILLING OUT THE 'ECHO GAME REGISTRATION FORM', AND B.) SUBMITTING IT TO THE GM LIST MANAGER. THIS IS CURRENTLY Jason Tamez. If current slots are full, the applicant will be added to a wait list, to be contacted when a slot becomes available. Slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis with regard to the wait list, so if you want to play a game, get that registration form in! How to keep each game as separate as possible, and how games will be declared defunct, will be defined by the Moderators. After much thought, it was determined that 'standards' would be tough to identify and worse to enforce, so we'll do our best to be fair to all in our actions; in reality, we failed our saves vs. Confusion (even Gods fail on a 1), but don't tell anyone. You can obtain a copy of this textfile by FREQing 'ADD.RUL' from 1:106/357. Your cooperation in complying with the rules is appreciated.
