Same reason I avoid chat rooms. You're squeezing just too much through such a narrow channel that it takes forever. I have enjoyed playing in storyboards, which are echoes for roleplaying, usually in a set environment like the Past and Future Inn or the Fabulous Donut Shoppe, though since FurNet folded I haven't seen any. It took a long time to finish anything, but it didn't use up nearly as much personal time. What I like about the paper and dice RPGs is that, paradoxically, in the best of them paper and dice have relatively little to do with it.. It's the fact to face interaction that's the main emphasis and the mechanics get in the way as little as possible.. AI> I've played Magic: The Gathering, but I prefer the computer version. AI> GRRR!!! I know the feeling. I'm reminded of the time I tried to learn Bridge. I'm sure when you know all the rules it's fine, but until you do there are all these bids and things that have not only face value meanings but also sub meanings that you're supposed to be using to tell your partner what you're up to, and when you don't know what they are you give all the wrong signals and annoy people. --- Msged TE 06 (pre) * Origin: StormGate Aerie BBS 1-310-822-6729 (1:102/524) .
