Subj : BBS location To : All From : Kay Shapero Date : Sat Oct 07 2000 02:35 am Actually it's fairly easy to get at FIDOnet off the internet - just find a BBS that's set up to reach via telnet. A number of these are listed in the nodelist; there are two just in my own net (net 102): Gene Gjesvold's Hooray 4 Hollywood telnet://bbs.h4h.com Phil Hansford's Mysteria telnet://mysteria.com But there are plenty more out there. If you check my site at http://home.earthlink.net/~kayshapero/fidonet.htm you'll find links to several FIDO webrings which will have more. You can also set up as a point, that being a private BBS that only needs to be on line when you poll for your mail. Which can be to a bossnode over the phone, or you can even get it over the internet where a lot of mail gets carried anyway. You can even set it up to automatically do this at whatever time you feel like, just like a regular BBS. For that matter, if you have a BBS you can call but you're worried about your phone bill, a simple off line reader saves you a lot of time - you dial up, it downloads new mail in whatever echoes you're reading plus your netmail, and you hang up again. --- Msged TE 06 (pre) # Origin: StormGate Aerie BBS 1-310-822-6729 (1:102/524) * Origin: ConchGate (1:106/357.0) .
