I haven't seen the books, but a DM I've been playing with just recently had the beta material for it and has already incorporated some of the ideas from it into his own house rules. His existing game is a hybrid of 2nd edition, Skills & Powers, a variety of house rules, and now some elements from 3rd edition. Now, I'm not familiar enough with his game (only met him in the last couple of months) to know for sure what's a house rule and what's from 3rd edition, but I can say that his game is considerably different from any I've ever previously played. One element that I believe comes from 3rd is the "higher is better" approach to all stats and die rolls. He also uses a 20 for just about everything, but I'm not sure where that comes from. AC is reversed from the previous editions, instead of negative numbers being good, high numbers are. Hits are made by rolling higher than the target's AC.
