Turned off the text-pacing to get a nice quick copy-paste, and ended up with a whole bunch of drag from the bottom of the screen...got a little ugly, needless to say. Anyways, as for your points raised with regards to the game, I actually agree with a lot of them. I too would prefer to have characters who are built-up, who hold a certain value that would spur the players on to be more careful, and provide better role-playing just to keep the character alive. But at the same time, with a PBEM, a couple of factors you don't encounter with table-top games occur. First, there's the obvious issue: it takes way too long to develop a character to 7th Level sentiment in a PBEM. To be honest, I have no problems if people who wish to play take an established character and use that, as long as it's toned down to meet the standards that I laid out. Secondly, a PBEM game allows a significantly larger amount of time to think about what you're going to do. Role-playing can be developed instead of being rushed; that is one of the reasons why I prefer PBEM to table-top; not only to I get a more in-depth reaction to my scenarios than I would with table-top, but I can also be fairly sure that the players will take more note of the surroundings I place them in. Basically, it makes me feel better because I know I'm not putting a lot of work into something for nothing. Our differences are perhaps a bit of an impediment, Harold, I won't deny that point at all. But I do look forward to input from you, and of course, my players, as to how the game goes in your minds, and what I might be able to do to improve it.
