Organization: W. L. Mackenzie C. I. Harold, once again I thank you for your opinions. I would like to point out= , at this juncture, another element of the DM-Player relationship. That ele= ment is trust. Not the =22I can trust you with my life=22 trust, but the tr= ust that the DM will provide an interesting game, and in turn the trust tha= t the Player will act appropriately, not thrash the DM's choise of incident= s based on rules and/or logic, and most of all, do his/her utmost to aid in= both their own enjoyment, and that of the DM and other Players. Once again, I state that I respect your opinions. However, while you may fe= el that your statements are designed to make me think and revamp my quest b= ecause of past experiences which you have had, and thus to hopefully yield = a better quest, I view them a little differently. I don't look at them mali= ciously, but I do find a small problem. They reduce that element of trust. What you say is well-backed, well-thought, and pretty much an all-round goo= d essay (for lack of a better word). But, unfortunately for me at least, it= makes it very hard for me to be able to convince my players, or possible p= layers, that while what you say is very valid, they will simply have to tru= st that I can make things interesting, and that what I do reveal at this pa= rticular point in time is but a basic viewpoint. You're cutting my player-pool to ribbons here, Harold. I realize that your = experience with such scenarios has either been sour, over-played, or a litt= le of both. Perhaps with others, too. But, at the same time, Sigils of Eras= ure is, I feel, a prime example of how things did not flow according to the= norm. I write in my spare time, Harold. I know enough from what I write, a= nd what I read, just how boringly repetitive some situations can be if thos= e responsible for the creation of those situations don't add a number of in= teresting twists. Everything nowadays is fairly predictable, Harold. I don't like being predi= ctable, and I try not to be as much as I possibly can. So, to all who have an inkling of interest in joing a PBEM, while this star= ts off in a prison, and the equipment is =22right there,=22 all I ask is th= at you place the sacred element of the GM-Player relationship in role-playi= ng between us, and trust that I will provide you with the purpose of what a= PBEM is supposed to provide: entertainment, and mental challenge.
