It's a draft novel, no contract; and it's about impossible to break into the novel market without a finished copy, so no advance and "you have a year to write the thing" for me. Yet. But thanks. :-) The setting's an odd mix of Eastern and Western (it is, with some significant changes, the Black Wall setting). Qenar is based loosely on the Swiss confederacy, among other things; Avrezin on the Italian city-states or warring German states. The technology is in some ways Renaissance-level, some ways not, and the philosophies are in some ways more Eastern.
