So I haven't done anything with Bath of Return in June. Then someone decided to steal my ride on the night of 6/28-29. Unbelievable. It must have been someone who owns the model and wanted it for parts or who recognized it for what it was: a pristine example of the missing link between the Japanese block style street motorcycles and the sport motorcycles of today. It was a 1984, Honda, 700cc, Nighthawk S in blue/black with stock luggage rack and a color scheme coordinated Corbin (Gunfighter/Lady) saddle, 13000 miles. This was the model where Japanese engineering met California Hot Rod styling. As I said before, the link in motorcycle evolution between the Universal Japanese Machines and the Sport Bikes. Steal a Harley Davidson, I can understand. In the midwest there are enough people after the HD mystique you can get rid of one easily. Steal a sport bike for a joy ride, I can understand. But this bike... I'm afraid a collector got it and it will never run the highway again. This bike turned heads wherever it went, even stuck up Harley Davidson heads. I'm going to miss it. It will be 30 days without a ride... that's hard time for a biker. If it hasn't turned up by then, the insurance company will declare it a total theft loss and I'll see part of its value. Standard operating procedure in a vehicle theft. But still, in a car for the 30 days. oh well. So I suppose I won't have much of an excuse for not doing something with Bath in July.
