Subj : i don't get it To : Patrick Basister From : Michael Kleefeld Date : Tue Aug 15 2000 12:10 pm Patrick, Some late cause my system was five days down .. PB> I've gone through the POP manuals and whatever documentation I have here, PB> but I might just be too dense to understand a few points. ;) PB> I run PoP and send mail to other nodes as well (thus have them set up in PB> the "Nodes Setup" option)... I have a default modem init string which goes PB> well for all BUT ONE node. From experimenting, I found out that this one PB> node (running FD) does not accept the handshake of PoP ("other end is PB> sleeping..") and the only way I can poll that node, or it poll me PB> properly, is to have the &N14 string enabled. PB> But with that &N14 enabled, another node (this one running PoP) canNOT PB> poll me (and I can't poll him). PB> So... how can I set the &N14 string to be used when polling (or being PB> polled by) only this other node, but leave the other nodes to use the PB> default init string? I know your problem, my GVC modem can't connect with some USRs at 28800. The solution: 'Nodes setup > Special dial 0'. If this field is empty, the default dial string (ATDT..) is used. If it is not empty, the given dial string is used. This field is a not an addition, it is a replace! So you must set it to 'AT&N14DT' for this special node. This is working for outgoing calls. On incomimg calls it is the problem of the caller to reduce the baud rate. I see no chance to give a special _init string for only one node. |X| | |icha --- FMailX 1.22 * Origin: * Astronik * CM MO V34 X75 * noCS * (2:2468/9963) .
