I had contacted the Portal team and got some older sources specially of
the modem units but none of them worked resp. solved the problems.

They themselves did not know at which point the problems occur and what
change is responsible for the trouble. Most of the older code does
exists anymore.

Sorry but there are more questions than answers on that topic.
