Now the fun begins, I tried the above [ portal /c] and it works fine ;-) then I tried [ portal ] from a vanilla DOS session, and it works fine ? Next I try [ pop ] and run the batch file, it works fine ! Return to the WPS and click the icon and it errors ????? I take the HD and out and put it back in the old HewPy, plug in the modem and try it, Portal works perfectly ! Definately seems to be a hardware relationship problem to me, either cpu or memmory, probably because they both run considerably faster than the old HewPy 486 dx66. I am wondering if this part of Portals code was perhaps written in Visual Basic at one time and is exhibiting the vb timing error that occurs on some faster machines. Still it doesn't really matter as I find I can run portal /c in a separate DOS session while the BBS is up and running and modify the entries in the matrix okay.
