Subj : PoP MIP To : All From : Raymond Rosch Date : Wed May 31 2000 06:41 pm -= Portal of Power: FAQ =- Q: Will there be a version for Windows, Mac, Amiga, ZX81, Linux etc. A: PoP is written in Borland Pascal 7.0 and makes heavy use of a commercial library called Object Professional (lots of low level screen management routines etc.). So to port it to other platforms, the following must must be available on that platform: a) a BP 7 compatible compiler b) a port of Object Professional And until now Virtual Pascal/2 is the only product that has these two things. Still the communication routines (and a few other things) will probably need to be rewritten too... this requires that one of the Portal Team has that platform available and feel the need to have PoP ported. Q: Will I have to send new postcards when the next version is released? A: NO - once you have sent the postcards you are registered for ALL future versions. Q: How do I send an 'AT+FCLASS=2.0' to my modem (only for pre v0.63)? A: Rainer Haemmerle has created a patch (NOT tried by The Portal Team) - so make a backup of PORTAL.OVR first! But anyway thanks to Rainer. The following text is from the original message from Rainer: ........... PoP replaces the "." in +FCLASS=2.0 with a ",". So I had to patch the portal.ovr a little bit (sorry to Portal Team!) so it now replaces a "," with a "," :-) So load the portal.ovr with a diskeditor, search the hex-string EB 3E 3C 2E 75 09 and replace it with EB 3E 3C 2C 75 09 (a 2C instead of 2E). Things should work fine now! ........... The above is a copy of the FAQ that one of the original PoP team posted...
