Subj : Back again To : FRANK MASINGILL From : RICHARD M. MEIC Date : Sat Jul 14 2001 06:47 am -> None of this has any relevance to me, Richard. On the two occasions -> when I experienced high points in the tension between time and -> timelessness I came away with nothing to impart to the world in -> literary exposition and certainly whatever mystic experience I might -> have at least bordered on did NOT come from reading any "library -> philosophy section." In fact, I have no training whatsoever in -> "Philosophy." You must be thinking of somebody else. Your extensive reading of other philosophers qualifies as training. You overquote like the PhD philosophers, Frank. You seem to feel that the support for a thought is more important than the thought itself, and as a result your messages are unclear. They are rendered meaningless with over referencing and not one thought of your own makes it through. On a number of occasions you mention your age, as if increased age automatically imparts wisdom... sorry, Frank but I have known many foolish old men in my life, so your age means nothing to me. Your words carry no more weight if your 80 years old than if you are 8 years old. I understand that you feel proud that you have read others so extensively, but you have allowed that pride to overtake the messages you try to impart. You'll love this... it was Condorcet who cautioned humanity to beware of the idols of the mind, for they distort reality. Bacon said that the mind "... hastily and without choice, imbibes and treasures up the first notices of things, from whence all the rest proceed, errors must forever prevail, and remain uncorrected." I will do as you now and not bother to explain why I chose those quotes. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5 * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:18/140) .
