Subj : Insult Humor To : RICHARD M. MEIC From : LEE LOFASO Date : Tue Jul 17 2001 09:18 am Hello Richard, RMM>I won't go any further on this with you. Let me just close by saying I RMM>have been insulted by 2 people and I have a right to not feel glad about RMM>it. Insults are the highest form of compliment. Years ago, I had been invited to see a performance by Don Rickles at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans. Don Rickles is the King of Insult Humor, as he is well-known in certain circles. He started his act by picking on a few unsuspecting guests, which drew a few laughs. Then, he saw me. That's when he really got started. Especially after I insulted him back. The exchange went on for about ten or fifteen minutes, his bodyguards starting to get a bit nervous as the insults started getting more insulting. The rest of the show went as planned, all enjoying a good time. After the performance, I was invited backstage, along with the other folks whom Rickles insulted during his show. He gave us all a refund and a signed autographed picture of himself to show his appreciation. Truly a nice guy, always entertaining audiences in ways unthought of by anyone else. --Lee * SLMR 2.1a * Which way?
