I don't want to spoil it for you.  However...  ;-)

"The Light of Other Days" involves the invention and the wrestle for control of 
technology that allows people to look in on the lives of all other people 
anytime, anywhere.  The book explores some of the social and psychological 
implications of living in such a "transparent" world. You might enjoy it.  Did 
you read "Childhood's End" by any chance?
