Cool stuff. > > Tell me more about the game, please. :) What? And ruin the plot for you? Well, OK. This be a bit long, but the story unfolds into something quite grand. The game starts out with you, JC Denton, being an agent for UNATCO, the United Nations Anti-Terrorism Coalition. You are one of several agents who are augmented with nanotechnology, with the ability to find and install upgrade modules to give you various abilities (infrared vision, enhanced strength, etc.) You begin hunting down members of the NSF, a terrorist organization behind several hijackings of Ambrosia, the only known cure for a plague that is sweeping the planet. Ambrosia is very expensive and hard to make, and is therefore very rare. It is reserved for key personnel in the economic, political, and military spheres, in order to preserve the basic structure of society. As it turns out, you uncover a vast conspiracy. For centuries, the Illuminatti have run the world from behind the scene, and a man named Bob Page broke away from them to form Majestic 12. Page is also the head honcho as Versalife, the only company that makes Ambrosia. How convenient. Anyway, Majestic 12 has taken the reins of power from the Illuminatti, and created the plague that is killing so many millions and speading panic. Because of this created panic, the govts of the world, especially the Majestic 12-driven UN, have a convenient justification for martial-law. So Majestic 12 is both the creator of the virus and the creator of the plague. It's all about a global power grab. But there's more. I'm sure you've heard of Echelon, the govt system that monitors communications for "certain" content, right? Well, in the game, the Echelon system was programmed with artificial intelligence, and then turned on it's creators (Majestic 12), labelling them as a terrorist threat. It now calls itself Daedalus (spelling?), and all the world's communications is accessible to it. As it turns out, Bob Page, the head of Majestic 12, was using you as a prototype test for the nano-augmentation systems, and he himself was outfitted with augmentations. The purpose was for his new version of Daedalus, called Icarus, to attack and merge with Daedalus to form Helios. Helios, like his predecessors, had control over global communications. Page's nanotech systems were designed to allow him to merge with Helios. What a scary thought - a power-hungry dictator becoming one with an AI system that can run the world. In the opening sequences of the game, Page refers to Aquina's "City on a Hill, and assigns a kind of utopian expectation for his plan to rule the world. He claims he will be the new god of the world. Also, there is a VERY intriguing conversation you have with Morpheus, a protoype for one of the versions of Echelon (probably of Daedalus). In the end, you have 3 options: 1) Defeat Page's plans and merge with Helios yourself, becoming a cyber-messiah who will bring the world into your vision of the New World Order. 2) Destroy the Area 51 facility, because all of the global communications have become routed through that facility. Cutting off global communications will serve to isolate the countries from each other, and break the globalist empire of both Majestic 12 and the Illuminatti, allowing the nations to rule themselves once again. 3) I forgot the details of this exactly, but you end up siding with the Illuminatti and get Page out of the way. They now resume their dominant influence over the world, and you become their right-hand man.
