Some people tend to imagine that modernity invented the human intellect
and condition; but that is modernity qua modernity. :-)

I thought he was Russian; he has a reputation for being profound in
a eastern sort of way. Back when this echo was mostly indistinguishable
from a new-age forum (remember then?) he was a popular topic. What
ever happened to Adam, Aaron, and the other Frank?

I found some interesting things while looking up various philosophers
on the net, including sometimes even complete (public domain or lapsed
copyright) translations of their works. The internet is good for
something occasionally. (grin)
