 We had the smartest, friendliest hamster you ever met, for five
 years. Yeah I know just a hamster but this little guy won our hearts
 clear though. Hamsters are not generally 'friendly' unless you
 nurture them to be. Frisky was a natural! He developed skin tumors
 in his fifth year of life which the vet says is a long life for a
 hamster.

 I think those turmors were a result of us having
 tried the cedar bedding chips.. :( ... We only used them twice.
 ANd Frisky would go atop of his little house to get away from them.
 Something told us he certainly didn't LIKE the cedar chips. <Meant
 to cut down on odors>.

 Belatedly we found out cedar bedding can cause skin cancer in
 such pets... So live an learn, pass it on.

 Cats. We bought a tiny cute tiger kitty right about the same time we
 had Frisky. The kitty was smart adorable and a joy but ah...
 I am allergic to cats! SO sobbing away, I had to give him to a friend.

 Dogs. Two. First was a female retriver/lab. Had incurable allergies.
 Had to eventually put it to sleep.

 Now we have a shih tzu and a shih tzu mix. Both males.
 They're wonderful dogs!!! And they're both staring at me now
 to take them for their walk.  :)

 PS: I think learning from our losses, us what helps us move on.
