I don't think dogs, 'turn' at all except in the rare case of insanity. I think dogs that 'turn' have merely been brutalized or never had proper alpha leader domination drilled into them. I've never struck my Pit Bull but on a very few occassions he balked at a command I simply repeated it louder and sharper until he complied. Punishment for my dog consists of BAD DOG in a loud sharp tone, he's ashamed, slinks away and hides. My vet says he's only seen one bad tempered Pit, it seems that those that are well taken care of are no problem.
