I would say that having a binary format at all is DOS-think. :-) Surely both storage and transport formats of fidonet messages could be optimized a bit, but I doubt that it would be worth the effort. By the way, I uploaded a slighly improved version of the module to the server. The main difference is that it now uses Time::Zone instead of Time::Timezone as I think that the TimeDate package is much more common than the Time-modules package. There are some problems with file locking, though. The only portable file locking mechanism in perl is the flock function. It should work fine under Windows and OS/2, but Linux has two entirely separate file locking mechanisms, flock and fcntl, and most other programs use fcntl which is a pain to use in Perl and cannot be used in a portable way... --- * Origin: tous les oiseaux chantent si charmant ce matin (2:203/2) .
