no... that's not what I want, I'm not dealing with a browser...
just an application that uses HTTP to retrieve binary files.
I want a way to itercept the request with a CGI and send a binary response

I'm fairly sure it won't understand a redirect as it's expecting a binary
file (not html).

maybe I'll have to read a bit more about apache to see if what i want is
even possible.
