I don't think it has to be realtime to be dynamic.  Not that much is added by 
instant messaging.  I believe it is possible to increase traffic without being 
realtime but certainly not by remaining developmentally static.  I think 
development or experimentation with new ideas is the key.  I may be wrong but I 
do know that the current methodology isn't working.
