yeah, i'm running linux (suse 6.4 here) i remember trying to do something like 
this in perl before, but got hung up on the crc check (it wasn't cranking out 
what it was supposed to.)

assuming we get this all up and running, i take it you aren't worried about 
dupes? ie. stuff you already have, there's bound to be a few files...
