Does it matter?  The editor doesn't need to know anything further then editting 
text, much like what I am currently doing.

The only time I used it was to get a cvs version of X.  I probably won't ever 
use it again but you never know for sure.  Wasn't all that hard, just a pain in 
the * like ALL web thingies.  I am not a fan of the www.  I like the internet, 
just not the www or any other network on the internet that requires web crap.  
They can keep it.  I sure wouldn't pay money for it.

Beats me why.  Use ftp to get source.  It still is the best method.

Understood.  I guess if he thinks he can't handle it then he won't ever be able 
to handle it.  If he ever decides to go beyond just being a follower and become 
smart about computers, that will be the perfect time for learning Linux or any 
other Unixie OS.
