Subj : perl before swine To : tony summerfelt From : Maurice Kinal Date : Sun Mar 27 2005 11:19 am Hey Tony! I am reading with much interest your last message to Mark. I won't bother quoting as you probably know better what you mean then any quote could possibly further illuminate. Having said that, I agree wholeheartedly with what I percieve you are saying, especially the email spamming part. Lately my email account is the target of Russians trying to sell me something that is completely beyond my understanding other then the dollars they want for whatever it is they are selling. As for Fido, egos, etc. it really doesn't matter. That all could easily be exploited to anyone's advantage if they chose to do so and the powers that be couldn't do a damn thing about it seeing they are clueless as to how any of this truely functions, if indeed it is functional. They have squat. Case in point is the BACKBONE and it's lack of control over it's own mandate, if indeed it turns out it actually has a mandate. The claim that a moderator "owns" an echo when they are absolutely powerless to control what goes on in "their" echo serves to illustrate this point. All it really ends up accomplishing is create useless traffic about a database whose only function is to store totally meaningless information as well as create an unneeded administration that serves nothing, given that it cannot live up to it's mandate. The way I see it the ghosts that haunt Fido (us) have few real choices, if any. Speaking for myself, after looking at the hoops firsthand I have serious doubts about all this being workable without a major overhaul, internet or not. The internet didn't kill Fido, Fido was killed when the hobby/pioneering mentality was replaced with an administration who believe they are the keepers and protectors of this so-called hobby. That is the way I see it. - Maurice --- txt2pkt.pl v0.00 Hacked * Origin: Coffin Point (1:261/38.9) .
