Subj : Status To : Guy Bullitt From : Stan Burke Date : Fri Jun 23 2000 04:38 pm Hi Guy Bullitt, hope you had a fine day 22-Jun-00 01:33:20, Guy Bullitt mumbled to Stan Burke Subject: Hi, mixed GB> Wow! GB> > Hum, getting feeds of fidonet, via the I-net file attaches is easy!, and normally much faster then the old delay in routed via fido etc(Grin) GB> Well, I don't know about "ACTIVE"! But I am here! Glad to hear from GB> you, GB> and hoope we cna strike up some interesting conversations willing to talk about anything at all >> * Origin: SomeWhere in S. Korea, I think it's still South! >> (1:109/921.57) GB> ...Hmmm... Was unaware of the status over there! Welp, it is still pretty much the same, fidonet is pretty much dead!, as all the BBS have shut down, etc, due to increased internet feeds and activity etc!, but a few of us are still sitting on the sidelines monitoring the echos etc. as for political status, north and south have just finished a big round of talks etc, with more to come, we might see then re-united, with-in the next few years, much like the tearing down of the Berlin Wall, and the re-uniting of Germany etc. Hope it doesn't come too fast though!, would hate to be out of a job! (Grin) Just hit my 48th Birthday on the 23rd of June, still a young man! Did spend a little over 20 years in the Active US Army, then retired, and went to work as a civilian employee of the US Army over here, have been with that since 1991!, so that make approx almost 30 years of continuious US Government service! Ran a BBS on an old Wang Classic, in 88-90, using Spitfire, and Binkley combination, with MS Dos emulation cards installed in the WANG ( that was a trip), switched it over to the Zenith Laptops, when they first came out with 10 meg harddrives etc., then brought up a couple more nodes using RA and I-mail, on Tandys, sheech looking back on it I must have been a gluttion for punishment!, keeps those up wasn't fun!, then right after I started playing with 386sx's, and a 486dx2, machines all laptops etc, most of the BBS and nodes just plain gave it all up! over here at least, so I switched to being a "Point", just to stay connected to FidoNet, and that is where I am now! -=> Best of Luck!, Stan Burke <=- --- Terminate 5.00/Pro*bt * Origin: Coffee not found, terminate the operator!
