not my copy of v4.07 dated june 9, 1989... in fact and more importantly, the 
word english appears in P4 only twice and both of those occurances are in 
section 1.0... that section says, very simply, that english is the official 
language of fidonet, that all documents must exist in english, and that 
translating those documents to other languages is encouraged... nothing more, 
nothing less...

this has nothing to do with gating at all... it is simply an "opening of roads" 
that haven't been available before...

the FTSC has nothing to do with the content of the echos... they only document 
how the mail is transported (among other things)...

no one is taking over this echo, john... i don't know where you get that 
idea... i'm glad for the traffic... just wish it were in a tongue i could read 
and that it were about pascal...

nope. this echo is having enough problems just getting ANY type of traffic, to 
pull it and move it to provate distribution would surely kill it... besides, 
how many folk these days, are willing to make long distance calls to pull one 
or two echos? not many that i'm aware of...

in any case, it's my decision and my decision alone... i do appreciate the 
feedback from those offering it... but...
