 If there is no call in the API for detecting the presence, then you
 might have to scan the IVs, that is, if the IV is anything but 0:0,
 go there and see if the signature matches that of the [known] PPP driver.

 Depending on circumstances, this might be a workable solution. There are
 of course numerous problems with this approach, no need to point them
 out I should think.
