that is interesting... i wasn't aware that they were using mark may's stuff... 
it does make sense, though...

i found and patched numerous bugs in mark's stuff over the years... i don't 
recall what those fixes were nor did i mark them down anywhere or comment them 
with IDs in the code... however, i'm willing to make what i have available for 
others to look at...

FWIW: i have several tools that create messages in JAM bases and they all use 
mark's code... none of them exhibit this problem...
