 As with integer types, sizes are machine-dependant. However,
 there are [minimum size(?) and] relationsships defined between
 the different floating-point types.

 float <= double <= long double

 However, on a 32-bit platform a float is probably 4 octets large,
 and a double 8 octests, so "single" would be my answer to the
 question.

 These are in IEEE-format.
