The topic. Topics should relate to PACKET radio in general, but try to keep it as close to Amateur Packet Radio as possible. All other HAM topics should be taken to the HAM echo. Packet radio is on topic there as well. CB Packet Radio is on topic in the CB_RADIO echo. 2. Decorum. NO blatant profanity, flames, insults or slander. Regardless of your actual circumstances, please act as a mature, responsible adult while participating here. 3. Disputes with others. Any disputes with other echo users will be conducted in a gentlemanly or ladylike manner. Please leave the moderating to the moderator. If you have a dispute with the moderator, see section 8. 4a. Edit your Quotes! Keep your quoting to the minimum necessary to establish the context of your reply. Certainly, don't quote more than you originate. Do not include the other persons - hello, goodbye, "In a message to" lines, offline mail reader signatures, taglines, mail tosser PID lines or origin lines in your quote; UNLESS you are specifically replying to them. 4b. Misc message do's and don'ts. English is the official language of Fidonet. And it's the official language of this echo. For those whose 'first' language is English, make sure you check your spelling and correct your grammar. Let's set an example for those whose 'first' language isn't English. Having to agree with what anyone else says is not a requirement for this conference. Disagree with opinions if you must, but do not attack the person. This is not the place to display advertisements for any other echo. I advertise this echo in ECHO-ADS and expect you to do the same for yours. Any mention of your BBS is appropriate, but I don't wish to see any blatent advertising of it, in your messages. Taglines; Do not use any controversial taglines in this conference. If you're in doubt about it, don't use it. 5. Gating/Conference access. Gating or cross-posting of this conference to any other conference and/or networks will not be permitted without explicit permission from the moderator(s). 6. Use your real name. All message headers posted in this echo should contain the REAL name of the poster. Alias' may be used, but should appear only in the body of the message. Messages originating on/from an internet mailing list may have the posters email address in the header of the message. The message body must begin with the poster's REAL name and origin. The mail-list must show the gateway being used to post in this echo. 7. Commercial Use. Commercial advertising in Fidonet is against Fidonet's policy. Advice, comments, and recommendations about commercial products in response to a question are always appropriate. 8. Loopholes. These rules are a living document and I reserve the right to change them as I deem necessary. Unless specifically excepted, discussion of the rules of this conference is off topic in the echo. I'm open to discussion of the rules via netmail or email. Your input is welcome. All disputes with the Moderator(s) WILL be handled in private Netmail or Email only. My method of handling those who post a dispute with the moderator will be to cut their access to this echo and then we'll talk. Don't make me do it. Those conference users who do not have access to Email or Netmail, should advise a moderator of their situation in the echo. I'll do my best to provide you with a means of communication to resolve any question or situation you may have.
